Common sense tells us that maybe we should practice more frequently, those pesky little yoga postures that we simply don’t like. Those that at mere mention of the name by your teacher, have you wondering how you might escape and head for the loo. Some poses seem to create not just physical resistance, but mental and emotional resistance too. So yes, it seems logical we do that. That we work on and explore why a seemingly innocuous, body shape has us running for the hills. It might just provide us with valuable insights into why and what exactly we’re resisting. As a practitioner and a teacher, however, I also like to do the opposite. If you’ve ever been to any of my classes, or visited us on a Feel Great Break Yoga Weekend, you’ll know that I just love man’s,( and my ) best friend, the downward dog, plus I love the cool, and the totes amazeballs, family of arm balance poses, like crow, side crow and their innumerable variations.

And why the hell not? Why shouldn’t I do and teach the poses I love. I love them for a myriad of blooming good reasons. They center me, ground me, focus me, strengthen me and they feel damned great.
These five postures come up time and time again in my classes, because I’m shamelessly enthusiastic about them. But I want to know yours too.
