If you are planning to go on your first yoga retreat, you might have plenty of doubts swirling in your head. Don’t worry, it’s totally normal. When doing something new, anxiousness, hesitation and excitement tend to come in at equal proportions. At BookYogaRetreats.com we want you to concentrate on the latter, that’s why we’ve asked two yoga teachers some of the main concerns a first yoga traveller might experience.
They are Jess and Nikki, who have over 5 years of experience in organizing awesome yoga retreats in Spain. Together, they own Feel Great Breaks and are happy to answer all of our questions.
“What if this is my first retreat? Will I feel out of place? I also don’t have a lot of experience.”
Feel Great Breaks is the perfect choice for your first yoga retreat, and you will feel totally at ease from the get go. A lot of our guests have undertaken the whole journey alone, learning a lot about themselves along the way. And many have enjoyed it so much that they have come back for a second and even a third time. Coming alone has its benefits. You will take in more, get involved more, and meet lifelong friends that you might not have met if you’d have come with someone else. Yoga is for everyone and it doesn’t matter one bit if you haven’t a regular practice. Lots of our guests have zero experience of yoga. It’s so much more than a physical practice, it’s a complete science, and you will learn a lot about the subject generally.
“Am I going to be super bored after a few hours of retreat? You know, one cannot do yoga 24 hours a day…”
No way. Our itinerary, which you can find on BookYogaRetreats.com or on our website, gives you an idea of what to expect each day. Besides yoga and meditation there are other activities you can join in, like various guided walks to take in the surrounding area, or bike rides. There’s a fabulous pedestrianized promenade a few meters from the hotel where you can cycle, or walk along, right into Denia town. It’s right beside the sea so the views and scenery are stunning. Plus, in the hotel there’s a gym, a sauna, and an outdoor pool and jacuzzi.
In the warmer months, we also take a trip to the sea and go kayaking, snorkeling and paddle boarding. If you want to chill out there are lots of super spaces to sit and have a snooze in or read, and you can also book a massage with one of our talented therapists.
“Do I have to empty out my life savings to go on a yoga retreat?”
At Feel Great Breaks we have different locations and different prices, plus we offer both two nights, as well as four night breaks. This year we’ve added a new hostel location. So you can attend a yoga weekend retreat in a really beautiful, boutique-style hostel at half the price of our four-star breaks. Whichever break you chose, the price you pay covers everything except flights, insurance and transfers. All your meals are included, and we prepare fresh juices each day, gorgeous snacks, all made with the finest ingredients. Plus, we provide unlimited water, gorgeous teas, made by us, and fresh fruit. Also, at Feel Great Breaks we love a glass of wine so we include wine with your evening meal. You’ll find more about what’s included on our website. When you book a retreat you can secure your space with a small deposit and even pay in installments if you prefer.
“And what if I did spend my life savings? Will it be worth every penny?”
All our yoga weekends are worth every penny. If you want to splash out on a deluxe room with a sea view, or even a suite, we can arrange that for you. Saying that though, all rooms are lovely and have either garden, sea or mountain views.
“Am I going to only eat big plates of lettuce for every meal?”
We also love our food at Feel Great Breaks, and we can guarantee that you will not go hungry! You will enjoy an amazing buffet breakfast with all kinds of hot and cold foods, fresh breads and pastries, homemade cakes and tortillas, and even eggs and bacon if you like. You can even indulge in a glass of cava. Lunch is vegetarian with gorgeous salads and fresh breads and Spanish olive oils. We even make you a fresh juice each day and a tasty raw snack to keep up your energy levels. Dinner is vegetarian, three courses, and as I mentioned earlier, is accompanied by a lovely glass or two of Spanish vino. If that’s not enough we have a big bowl of fresh fruit for you to munch on. You do get plenty of exercise too. Three hours of yoga each day, plus the walks, bike rides and swimming etc. Its all about balance!
“What if I end up not wanting to go back home after completing the retreat?”
No worries. You can stay on longer after the retreat finishes. Just let us know for how long and we’ll get it sorted.
